Sex Therapy

Intimacy can be one of the most meaningful parts of a relationship, but it can also be one of the hardest things to talk about. Many people quietly carry questions, worries, or frustrations about their sexual lives while assuming they’re the only ones struggling.

You might feel disconnected from your desire, unsure how to communicate about sex with your partner, or caught in patterns where intimacy feels pressured, avoided, or disappointing. Sometimes people notice that their mind gets in the way during intimacy- racing thoughts, self-criticism, worries about "performance", or difficulty staying present in the moment.

For some, intimacy has been shaped by experiences of pain. You may have a history of painful penetration, difficulty relaxing your body during sex, or anxiety that arises when intimacy becomes physical. Over time, these experiences can lead to avoidance, tension, or a growing sense of fear or dread around something that is supposed to feel connecting. Many people in this situation have spent years feeling confused, frustrated, or even ashamed, often believing their body is “broken” or that they are somehow failing their partner.

Sex therapy offers a space where these experiences can be talked about openly and gently. Whether the pain is related to vaginismus, pelvic floor tension, past medical experiences, or other factors, our work focuses on understanding what your body has been protecting you from and helping you gradually rebuild a sense of safety and trust with your body.

Together, we explore the emotional, relational, and physical layers that shape intimacy. This may include addressing shame, working through anxiety that arises during intimacy, and developing practical steps that allow your body to experience closeness without pressure or fear.

Sexual challenges are far more common than most people realize, and they are also highly treatable. With patience, support, and the right approach, many people are able to move from cycles of pain, avoidance, or self-blame toward experiences of intimacy that feel safer, more comfortable, and more connected.
